Rapporteur Michel de Lamotte ⚙
I am referring to my written report.
Isabelle Galant MR ⚙
Mr. Minister, dear colleagues, as the Minister in the Economy Committee pointed out, the government has taken measures in the amount of 508 million euros per year in favour of independent workers. The main goal is to have an attractive social status. This bill enters into this framework by providing for an exemption from contributions for the quarter during which the interested party obtains a pension pension as an independent worker, after having reached the statutory pension age, provided obviously that he terminates his professional activity in the course of that quarter.
This text allows and takes into account the recent developments in the pension scheme for self-employed workers. Above all, it ends a difference in treatment. Self-employed workers will no longer be financially sanctioned if they wish to continue working beyond the statutory retirement age.
For our group, improving the status of independent workers is a priority, which is why we invite you to vote in favour of this text.
Ministre Denis Ducarme ⚙
Mr. Speaker, as Ms. Galant pointed out, this measure is part of all the measures to catch up in the field of social law in favour of self-employed persons. You know, in terms of new measures, at an annual rate for 2018, we are at €508 million to improve the status of self-employed people and reduce their contributions. This is part of this whole.
It has a particular feature, beyond the need for equity between the self-employed person who wants to quit at age 65 and the one who wants to continue to work longer. In fact, it ensures that the rules in force are not a barrier for those, many, who want to work beyond the statutory retirement age. With this vote, we will be able to correct the shoot in the matter.
I would like to thank all parliamentarians – whether they are the majority or the opposition – for the discussions we had on this subject in the committee, but above all for the unanimous vote in favour of this measure proposed by the government.
