Rapporteur François Bellot ⚙
I will not be too long.
This project includes different provisions in all transport sectors, including those relating to criminal prosecution concerning all aspects of transport.
This project primarily concerns maritime transport and fishing, air transport, rail transport and road transport and aims to bring these provisions in line with European provisions. This follows a certain logic related to the internal market. Various subjects were addressed.
With regard to inland navigation, it appeared that our Infrastructure Committee should initiate a debate on a whole range of subjects not covered in the project and which would deserve legislative amendments. I will not go into the details. The draft includes a provision aimed at subjecting foreign vehicles to technical checks and imposing fines if serious defects are detected. Indeed, with the opening of our country to carriers from many countries of Europe, it has been found that vehicles do not always comply with the minimum rules of maintenance and technical compliance. This provision should therefore be adopted.
Despite these few remarks, I would like to refer to the report that was drawn up after our discussions in the Infrastructure Committee.
