Mr. Speaker, Mr. Speaker and Mr. Speaker, I will be very brief.

With the draft law presented now, Belgium complies with its international obligations in space in the framework of the United Nations. The bill provides a detailed, administrative procedure for obtaining an authorisation for launching a carrier rocket, putting it into orbit and returning space objects. The draft law also includes a procedure for controlling these activities.

During the discussion, one member took the floor, your reporter. We agreed to the bill. The draft law itself does not pose any problem, but we regretted that Belgium has a serious lag in the ratification of a series of international treaties on space and we also regretted that Belgium has failed to comply with a number of financial agreements, including with regard to the ESA. The minister was sensitive to this criticism and commentary and he promised to do something to both.

Two small amendments were approved and the entire bill was then unanimously adopted.
