Rapporteur Hugo Coveliers ⚙
Mr. Speaker, this draft penalizes the falsification of the euro, even when the euro is not yet common. The smuggling of Belgian coins and banknotes is also punishable. Even the bonds, warrants, cheques, and so on, of the National Bank must not be counterfeited. Thanks to this draft and an amendment by Mr. Bourgeois, our Dutch language was also enriched. In fact, Mr. Bourgeois correctly noted that the term "shennis" of a coin in Dutch had a pejorative adjective. His proposal to use the term "mining" of a coin was unanimously accepted in the committee.
