Mr. Speaker, I think it is appropriate to say something about this. The work that prevails here and can now go to a final vote is very extensive. The bill is actually the conclusion of a path that has been worked on for twelve years. Twelve years ago, the Royal Commission was established with the task of revising, updating and codifying Belgian maritime private and public law. That committee, led by Professor Van Hooydonck, has done a lot of work. She did the preparation, after which the government and then some members of parliament took over the work to complete it now in Parliament.
Many experts, professors and administrations have examined the entire maritime law to improve it and lead it into the twenty-first century. We are therefore very pleased that we can complete the reform today and approve the text.
