Mr. Speaker, unless I am mistaken, I do not see the Minister of Defense here. I think it would be appropriate to implement Article 183 of the Constitution that the Minister of Defense is present here.

We will discuss the bill on Thursday. That is the simplest. If we still recruit ministers now, we will lose a lot of time.

Mr. Speaker, I would like to remember that the former Minister of Defence has once been promoted for a question from the current Minister of Defence concerning a trophy in Nijvel. Maybe there is a trophy in Aalter now. The Minister knew perfectly that the point was on the agenda. I can only state what is not possible, namely that the Minister himself is not present here.

I agree that it should, however. But instead of waiting, we will discuss the draft on Thursday.

Ladies and gentlemen, I will make it very brief.

Mr. Minister, I have no doubt that you know all the 39,000 staff members, but today I have a question specifically for you about a particular staff member, namely the Chief of Defense. Last week and also previous weeks I have asked you several questions on this subject. You have always answered me that fish was neither meat nor meat. The answer last week was so long that I even know it out of my mind. You have said: “General Van Daele will be replaced on 31/12 and on 01/01 there is a new CHOD.”

My question to you is: how will you now designate the new CHOD? Is it the oldest of the generals or is it the head of Operations and Training? Or is it a third rather than, by the grace of God, by the grace of every one, a response?

Mr. Speaker, colleagues, with regard to the very specific and unique question of Mr. Geerts, I remain with the answer I gave in the committee and other meetings. Mr Geerts, as well as all members of the Chamber committee, will be informed of the decision.

This, of course, is another response that can be learned immediately from the outside. Mr. Minister, it is actually sad that you have to give that answer on this day.
