Rapporteur Éric Thiébaut

I am referring to the written report.

Sybille de Coster-Bauchau MR

Mr. Speaker, in the extension of the previous bill allowing to ensure the functioning of police zones in the case of municipal mergers, it seems logical to us to settle the consequences of these mergers in the rescue zones. Our group will therefore support this text. I will recall what my colleague Philippe Pivin said in the committee, namely that we do not want the adoption of this text to open the door to a discussion on the key to the distribution of the federal allocation to the rescue areas.

As the author of the proposal expressly recalled in the committee, the question of a possible adjustment of the financing of the rescue areas is not provided in the government agreement. In addition to this reminder, we are entirely in favor of this bill. I thank you.

Koen Metsu N-VA

Mr. Speaker, we actually read this bill in exactly the same spirit as the previous bill, explained by colleague Degroote. However, we are talking about another legal personality, namely the aid zones.

I would also like to reassure Ms. de Coster, in the sense that during the committee it was clearly and explicitly stated that the federal subsidy will not be affected, but only the municipal subsidies that will be transferred from zone A to zone B. We must be aware that the voluntary merger of some Flemish municipalities will have an effect on federal regulations. I am very satisfied because this is very urgent. We must be able to prepare by 1 January 2019.

I was pleased to note that this proposal had a broad support and a lot of support, although it has little impact on Wallonia at this particular moment.
