A verbal report on this proposal is submitted by Ms. Uyttersprot.
Rapporteur Goedele Uyttersprot ⚙
Ladies and gentlemen, I will be brief. This bill was discussed last Tuesday in the Justice Committee. Ms. Becq is the main contributor of this bill and she has therefore explained in the committee the purpose, namely to make it possible that the judicial practice can now be extended three times by six months. At the moment, this can only be done twice. Today, due to a lack of vacancies, there are nine court interns at the Public Prosecutor’s Office whose internship has been extended twice. That extension expires on 21 March 2016. In order to prevent that second renewal from expiring without them being able to be appointed, it is appropriate to allow a third renewal. Otherwise, they risk missing their chances of being appointed.
During the discussion, Mr Brotcorne asked whether there are enough vacancies for the trainees to be appointed. Minister Geens responded affirmatively.
The entire bill was unanimously adopted.
