Rapporteur Corinne De Permentier ⚙
I am referring to my written report.
Alexandra Colen VB ⚙
Mr. De Permentier refers to her written report. The report lists a number of reasons why we will not vote against the treaty. One reason is that the Benelux has some sort of logic because of the fate linked throughout the history of the three Benelux countries.
However, we regret that the Benelux is still based on the Belgian context. We advocate for a Dutch-Flemish cooperation.
Therefore, we will abstain in the plenary vote on the treaty.
Minister Steven Vanackere ⚙
Mr. Speaker, in the latter observation, I would like to make it especially clear that the new treaty does indeed ensure that all parties to the treaty are involved in a way that is consistent with their nature. In other words, the Federal State of Belgium shall ensure the involvement of the Communities and the Regions when it concerns matters of mixed competence and matters for which the Communities and the Regions are competent.
