Rapporteur Marie-Christine Marghem

I refer to this in my written report.

Renaat Landuyt Vooruit

Mr. Speaker, I understand that none of the majority dares to speak, because what is happening here is super embarrassing. It is the first correction to that major reform of the court of Assisi, on which the minister, together with the Senate, has worked for months. Apparently, he has already overlooked a first detail, in particular that the law on the foreclosure was wrongly amended. Congratulations to! This is the first mistake of the year.

Minister Stefaan De Clerck

Mr. Speaker, I would like to point out that this is a bill and that it has been treated as such by Parliament, including Mr. Landuyt, without any consideration on that point. In all his wisdom, he had not noticed that point either.

Renaat Landuyt Vooruit

Shame on you!

President Patrick Dewael

Notwithstanding your appreciation in this regard, I give the word to Mrs. Nyssens.

Clotilde Nyssens LE

There is no inconvenience, Mr. Landuyt!

Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate the Minister for having so quickly corrected a material mistake. The law is extremely urgent, since it is about the detention of people. People should not be sentenced to three more months in prison because of a mistake.

The mistake is human, and the parliament also serves as a precaution when it comes to individual freedom.

Marie-Christine Marghem MR

Mr. Speaker, I will be brief, because I feel that we are reaching the end of the debates and that some of us would like to vote.

It is notorious that I do not sign myself by a systematic defense of the work of mr. The Minister . But in this case, the problem is urgent. Moreover, this is not a hassle, as Mr. Mr. Strongly points out. Landuyt, but of a forget that we committed together in an extremely complicated case. At one point, we developed six pistes of thinking to find the best scale in terms of correctionalization of crimes that should be dealt with before the most appropriate court without destroying the architecture of the Criminal Code. In all this work that lasted more than a month and a half, we may have committed a forget that we are now fixing.

Renaat Landuyt Vooruit

Yes, but forgetting can be a mess.

President Patrick Dewael

Error is human.

Renaat Landuyt Vooruit

Mijnheer de voorzitter, voor de volledigheid in voor de sfeer nog één zinnetje. We are al so low gezakt dat we trots are dat we of erroneous vlug repair. That is al something. It’s already something, but we forget that it’s a hole!
