In connection with Bill 334, I would like to say a few things.

First, I have determined — and also colleague Goyvaerts has noted that in the committee — that the government requests an urgent opinion from the State Council — three days — for a text for which there was an order of breach on 18 July 2002. I remember that the purple-green government, when it took office, appointed someone — I think it was Mr. Willockx — as a government commissioner with, among other things, the power to accelerate the recovery of the lag in the transposition of European law. We now read almost daily in the media that our country scores ⁇ poorly in transposing European law into our national regulations.

There is a somewhat cynical passage in the opinion of the State Council, namely that the government asks for a three-day period to give advice on a bankruptcy order of 18 July 2002. I found it helpful to bring that up here. This is contrary to the ambitions and the great rhetoric of some in this and the previous government on overcoming the downturn in transposing European directives.

Minister Didier Reynders

I do not think there are any special remarks from the State Council. From time to time, they complain about short deadlines.

In this case, there was no particular problem, given the content of the project. The State Council refers to the motive of urgency, but does not specifically criticize it.
