Mr. Speaker, Mr. Minister, allow me to point out that this is an important moment, in the sense that the confirmation by law of the royal decrees of, among other things, 4 December 1998 and 30 March 1999 is the ultimate proof that the decision to reindex the tax scales was indeed taken by the previous government. Over the past few months, both the Minister of Finance and other members of the government have regularly tried to attribute this decision to the current government and even compensate in the tax cuts promised to the population. Through the Decisions of 4 December 1998 and 30 March 1999, the previous government decided to proceed to the re-indexation of the tax scales. This merit ⁇ does not belong to the current government. So we were at the right end.
Minister Didier Reynders ⚙
Mr. Speaker, I refer to the committee report that Mr. Leterme should carefully read and from which I quote the following short paragraph: The implementation of the indexing of the bars is, by the way, only very partial. The government will examine whether it is technically feasible to repair this evil in the short term. In the following royal decrees, in any case, the full indexation of the bars will be restored as much as possible. After a small, temporary reindexation, this government will now carry out an integral reindexation.

Mr. Minister, if the government really had that intention, why was it waiting a year to take the necessary measures? I read the report this morning, Mr. Minister. And your comment would be more credible if you had used the past year to remove the restrictions and to restore this evil, as you call it.
