Mr. Speaker, dear colleagues, briefly, the social tariff is financed by the telecom sector and it is a reduction in the telecom bill for the most vulnerable people. This reduction has not changed since 2002 despite tariff increases that go beyond inflation. This proposal simply allowed to index the social tariff and recover the delay by increasing the current amount by 7.5%.
The whole sector of the fight against poverty had given a positive opinion, as did the IBPT. Unfortunately, colleagues from the former majority did not find it useful to support the most vulnerable people and to fight the digital divide. I regret it.
That is why I brought Mr. Flahaux back to the plenary session, hoping that he has changed his mind because I know how much he wants to support the most vulnerable populations! I thank you.
