Ladies and gentlemen, I will be brief.
My group welcomes the adoption of this bill in the Economy Committee. This bill aims to put an end to the lively controversy existing for ⁇ 20 years on whether or not a lifetime contract must have a random character within the meaning of the Civil Code and, at the same time, to put an end to the resulting legal uncertainty. The solution adopted in the proposed law is that the life insurance contract must not necessarily have a random character within the meaning of the Civil Code, in view of the criteria adopted by the Law of 25 June 1992 on the Land Insurance Contract. It is also important to clarify that this is an interpretative law that will be applicable not for cases that are judged, but for current or future disputes.
