On behalf of my group, from my bank, I would like to take the word briefly in the general discussion. Their
Mr. Speaker, for the few colleagues present, I would like to say that this initiative, this bill, was actually originally submitted by my party colleagues in the Senate, with the support of other parties. This was unanimously approved. Their
The draft law amends Article 8 of the 1999 Act on International Cooperation. We want to complement them with a focus on children’s rights. Through this path, we want to add the rights of children to the three existing horizontal themes, namely equal opportunities, care for the environment and the social economy. Their
Children are still the biggest victims of poverty worldwide today. Six of the eight Millennium Goals concern children. Through this legislative amendment, we really want to advocate that in the future all actors of the federal development policy, the NGOs, but also the government, will be obliged to include the rights of children in development cooperation. Their
This amendment is not just about more projects for children. They just want to do the child test on the entire development work. This amendment was unanimously supported by colleagues in the committee. We would like to ask that this will also happen here today in the plenary session.
