The law of 22 May 2001 translated the new European Seveso II directives into our law. For this purpose, a cooperation agreement was concluded on 21 June 1999, which, however, does not repeal the existing Seveso Act. A number of provisions of that latter law are now governed by the cooperation agreement, but a number of other provisions have not been repealed. There are differences in approach. Therefore, that design upgrades the existing text.
The title of the law has been amended. A number of definitions were rewritten on the basis of the cooperation agreement. Some articles were removed. I would add that an amendment was submitted by Mr De Permentier and Mr Janssens and Mr Frédéric.
The entire draft law, as amended and improved, was adopted with ten votes and one abstinence.
