Rapporteur Koenraad Degroote ⚙
Mr. Speaker, colleagues, the draft law aims to adopt a different attitude in practice.
In fact, many public authorities do not always use the data they already have and continue to request that data from citizens and ⁇ , while they are obliged to reuse that data. This bill wants to do something about it.
The discussion in the committee went very smoothly and almost all the political groups supported this draft, after an abstinence. The N-VA also supported this.
Colleague Devin of the PS explained that his group supports any measure that makes life easier for citizens and ⁇ . Also colleague Vanvelthoven of sp.a emphasized the importance and evidence of the principle of unique data collection. Collega Logghe endorsed in his presentation the importance of this bill. Colleague Van Hecke of the Green Group, in turn, emphasized that the goals are praiseworthy, although he had some concerns. Colleague Somers pointed out that this principle has been included in the various government statements for twenty years.
The Secretary of State gave comprehensive answers to all questions. It was also stated that this law contains a number of administrative obligations and that a large number of laws and implementing decisions will need to be adapted in order to eliminate the existing obligations. There will therefore be a lot of legislative work following the adoption of this bill.
The bill was adopted with nine votes in favour and two abstentions.
The N-VA can also be found in it because it is in line with the Flemish regulation that was introduced earlier.
