This draft law relates to the draft law amending the KB of December 2002 establishing the manner in which the State provides for free medical care for various categories of former fighters and war victims. The purpose of the amendment is to improve the status of the persons to whom this KB applies, by easing the criteria and conditions for recognition of free medical care.
Therefore, the draft law aims to limit the period applicable in one or more statutes of national gratitude in order to benefit from the refund of the brake money in the context of medical care through the intermediation of the Institute for Veterans, the National Institute for War Invalides, Old Fighters and War Victims. The minimum period required in one or more statutes of national recognition shall be reduced from nine months to six months.
I can also inform you that the Minister of Land Defense pointed out that the bill aims at the free medical care of the former fighters deployed at the end of the war and at the latest on 2 March 1945, insofar as they can prove that they have served for six months, and that the date of the end of the war is fixed on 2 September 1945, the date of the surrender of Japan.
The measure would apply to 3,200 former fighters and 946 civilian casualties. On the basis of the available information, the total cost of the measure on an annual basis is estimated at EUR 1,204,301.
