Since there is no report, I find it appropriate to give a brief explanation of what is being discussed here. The classification of the traffic offences in the different categories of fines, in accordance with Article 29 of the Traffic Act, is carried out through KBs. However, these KBs retain their legal validity only on condition that they are ratified by law within a period of one year. This was established in Article 29, §1bis, of the Traffic Act.

Meanwhile, there are another three KBs issued by Minister Landuyt that have not yet undergone such ratification. It concerns the classification of infringements such as the incorrect prioritization of round rounds, the crossing of pedestrian or cycling paths by motorists and the seizure of two-wheeled vehicles.

The non-validation of these KBs – two of these KBs should have been validated before 1 March – does not mean that these violations would no longer be punishable, but rather that the fines in category were reduced. There was a strong consensus in the committee to ratify these KBs by law as soon as possible so that this forgetfulness is rectified and the violations are returned to the right category.
