Greta D'hondt CD&V

Mr. Speaker, I would like to repeat, in this plenary session, in a very concise manner, what I said in the committee meeting following the discussion of these draft laws.

We approved these bills well in the committee and we will also do so in the plenary session. These bills do not come too early. Indeed, it has been working on this matter for years, and we can therefore not but rejoice at the fact that these bills are now in place, though it is that, provided that a little faster work, the government could have submitted them sooner.

In this context, I would like to make it clear that political modesty is appropriate when dealing with and voting on these bills. After all, if these bills are present now, it is not in the first place the merit of the government or the Chamber, but of the institutions of social security, the social parastatals and in particular the State Service for Social Security and the Cross-point Bank for Social Security, as well as of the social partners within the NAR, who thanks to their work came to workable proposals that gave shape to the modernization of our social security, to the simplification of the administration on social security and to the egogovernment in the social security.

If we vote on it this week, we rejoice — and I hope that the government and the majority parties will not rejoice over their work — over the very solid work of our social parastals and social partners.
