Rapporteur Hilde Vautmans ⚙
The National Defence Committee discussed and unanimously approved the proposed legislation.
This bill allows the Royal Military School to award new academic degrees in accordance with the Bologna Declaration. As an institution of university education, the KMS will award the degrees bachelor, master and doctor in order to adapt to the new structure of academic education and to the needs of Defense in a European context.
During the discussion, all speakers stressed that this is a very important step for our Royal Military School and that the bill was more than welcome. A few small points were discussed with the Minister regarding the enhanced cooperation between military school and civil universities.
This is, in my opinion, an important bill that fits within the European defence framework.
