Rapporteur Hugo Coveliers ⚙
Mr. Speaker, this is a very short text that abrogates Article 150, paragraph 2. The article states that when a person is convicted by the police court and the fine or the costs of the proceedings are paid, no proceedings are open. This is contrary to the European Treaty. The bill was unanimously adopted in the committee.

I would like to thank the rapporteur for his accurate reporting. I am also grateful to the colleagues who participated in the Justice Committee in the discussion and adoption of this bill. It is a small bill, but it is not useless. It puts an end to a ⁇ vague provision that leads to a lot of controversy and unnecessary procedures. It also ends an unfair provision that is contrary to the rights of defence, as the rapporteur has rightly emphasized. I think that with the approval of this bill, we will make a small, modest contribution to what should be the subject of law evaluation. This law assessment is very important to us. I would like to thank my colleagues in advance for the approval, which I hope they will give.
